Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then found many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
A senior official stated the incident made him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
